We have been eating here regularly for several years.  I started eating Sushi in the early 70's and visited Japan close to 100 times for business.
I have tried many Long Island Japanese restaurants over the years and while my favorites are in NYC Osaka comes fairly close.
The Sushi/Sashimi always seemed fresh and presented well, the salads are very good and the vegetable dumpling soup very tasty.
Recently we had the soft shell crab appetizer which was planko crusted and very tasty.  There are many different types of rolls, more Americanized than traditional Japanese, but several are quite good e.g.the Haichi roll.
The restaurant is small and unassuming, the service prompt and friendly.
The two Japanese Sushi chefs are very experienced and will modify spices and ingredients to your taste.
Better than most other Long Island Japanese restaurants and consistently fresh and well prepared food.

My boyfriend and I wanted a light sushi lunch while we were in the area. We searched google map instead of Yelp to find a place nearby because I didn't have my phone handy. And my boyfriend doesn't have the Yelp app on his phone.

Osaka is an extremely cute & clean little restaurant. The staff is beyond lovely and accommodating! It isn't often you see Japanese people running a sushi bar. In this day, most Japanese restaurants are run by Chinese people. How do I know? Because I can understand what they are saying in Chinese, LOL.

We ordered the spicy tuna, spicy salmon and California Roll specials on the lunch menu. It came with the typical salad & miso soup.

When our rolls arrived at the table, it didn't look like any sushi rolls that I ever had before. I wish I had taken a picture but I totally forgot. On the plus side, it was a solid piece of salmon and tuna instead of the chopped up fish that I'm used to having. The rice was pink & not white because they had this special sauce they added. It looked like the rice had soaked up fish juice which was unappetizing. But it turned out there was a SUPER SPICY mixture of red & green hot peppers. Suddenly, our mouths were on FIRE!!! We could barely eat it. Our waitress was very nice and offered some eel sauce to mask the heat. But there was no saving it. My stomach felt like I drank a gallon of bourbon because my belly was burning. My boyfriend exact words "I'm only eating sushi made from a Chinese person if this is authentic Japanese sushi!" I'm confident there are sushi lovers that frequent this place. It's just very different from my own experiences. Lesson learned, don't let google map decide where you are going to eat without reading some reviews.

"If you're having trouble finding sushi that is spicy enough- this might be the place for you!"

Such great service always. Nice intimate environment for easy conversation. Big fan of the teriyaki tofu!!

Quite possibly the worst Japanese we have ever had.  The California role that came with the lunch special was awful!  I am not fond of California rolls to begin with, but this one was just plain terrible.  The sushi and sashimi could not get any thinner. Again, I realize this was lunch special, but this went beyond anything I'd experienced before.  Oh wait, the ginger...how does that get screwed up?  Pickled ginger is pickled ginger, no?  I think this ginger was laying around in someone's gym bag.

    Truly a lack luster experience.

This was our first time eating here and it was excellent! All of the sushi was super fresh and the service was quick and friendly. Also has a more laid back atmosphere than some of the other sushi places in town. Would highly recommend to anyone!
